I just finished up your letter
You wanna know when things get better ?
When will you be up, not so down
Stranded far from town
All you see these days are gray skies
All you’re hearing are the blue lies
Askin’ what you lack
Gotta get yourself back
Chorus:
On and on the beat goes on
Soon this second will be gone
Another day here and gone
... move on
Life is all about the yearning
And another page a - turning
True love and happiness, why so hard ?
Is it just in the cards ?
Somebody once said something
It all comes down to one thing
Move on, move on
Don’t waste sweet precious time (chorus)
Nobody’s getting any younger
Don’t have to be to have the hunger
It’s in your hands, no one else
can put you on the shelf
The weather’s getting warmer
Maybe you are getting stronger
Move on, move on
Don’t waste your precious time
Chorus:
On and on the beat goes on
Soon this second will be gone
Another day here and gone
...move on
Moments come, moments go
Nothing makes the time move slow
Another day here and gone
...move on
Good morning golden sunrise
Rising in the sky
A lonely night gone by
She’s one in a million
Can’t get you off my mind
I wanna make you mine
There’s blue on the mountain
Red tailed hawk soars
Above the river’s shores
Wood smoke slowly drifting
Then disappears in time
I need to make you mine
Make you mine.....I need to make you mine
Good day becoming high noon
Warm my frigid hands
So I can send this telegram
Come meet me at the station
Meet me anytime
I need to make you mine
Make you mine....I need to make you mine
Make you mine....I need to make you mine
Hello early twilight
Nothing has been done
Go down you westward sun
The day’s last rays are dying
Can’t get you off my mind
I gotta make you mine
Make you mine I wanna make you mine
Make you mine I need to make you mine
Make you mine I wanna make you mine
Good night yellow moonshine
There’s too much in my head
It’s hard to lay in bed
If I just had you with me
Look into my eyes
So I can make you mine
Make you mine.....
Make you mine I wanna make you mine
Make you mine I need to make you mine
Make you mine I wanna make you mine
Make you mine I need to make you mine
How am I gonna get back to that cabin
How am I gonna get back to the land
Mighty river rollin’ through the valley
Gonna wash you where you stand
Morning winds whispering soft and quiet
Tryin’ say something to my ear
Can’t be heard above the roar of the river
Rambling like an auctioneer
How am I gonna get back to the city
How am I gonna get back to the streets
There’s a million miles of open highway
Between here and Easy Street
There’s a pale moon up on the rooftop
Sky scraper scrapes the sky
There’s a crazy man up on the antenna
Telling everyone that he’s gonna fly
Chorus:
Runaway Boy
Run away now
Gotta get back to myself
And I’m trying to learn how
Fly away bird
Take to the sky
There’s mountains of stone and steel
I gotta get by
How am I gonna get back to the laughter
How am I gonna get back to that space
I got lost on an endless highway
Just trying to keep the pace
How am I gonna get back to the ocean
How am I gonna get back to the shore
There’s miles and miles of coastline
And that’s what I’m gettin’ for (chorus)
How am I gonna get back to that cabin
How am I gonna get back to the land
Mighty river rollin’ through the valley
Gonna drop you where you stand
Morning winds whispering soft and quiet
Tryin’ say something to my ear
Can’t be heard above the roaring of the river
Rambling like an auctioneer (chorus)
The sky is on fire
The water is blue
In the distance I can see an image of you
Gold Autumn leaves
Getting ready to fall
It’s a good time for change
a good time for us all
Chorus:
Hey, there’s one thing that will slow you down
If you find yourself losing your ground
Hold strong, don’t turn around
Don’t turn around
The Summer’s too hot
The Winter’s too cold
We fight being young but don’t wanna get old
We’re too much in debt
Still we don’t have enough
And all the world’s gold couldn’t buy you true love (chorus)
The road is too long
The river’s too wide
The cavern’s too dark and the walls are too high
The doors are locked shut
And you’re caught in the rain
There’s always a risk better live for the gain (chorus)
Went down to the river’s edge and built myself a dream
Right there where things grow wild and the waters gleam
Then the rain fell, the river swelled and washed the whole damn thing away
Guess I gotta build again, better start today
There really ain’t a reason and it’s so hard to explain
For every piece of pleasure there’s a dosing of some pain
I can see the beauty of that river in my mind
Though sometimes it’s dark and deep when the sun don’t shine
Chorus:
Roll, roll, roll
Let the river roll
As long as it don’t flow on over me
Somewhere on an island on some far off distant shore
Is the very sea shell I’ve been searching for
I held it for a moment once, it slipped into the tide
I’ve been searching ever since at every waterside (chorus)
Woman of my vision you’re the keeper of my soul
If I ever lost you girl I’d lose some control
Like that river keeps on running ‘til it dies out in the sound
Gotta keep moving baby can’t let nothing slow you down .... (chorus)
Let the rain fall, let the thunder boom
Batten down the hatches in the living room
A late day storm came passing through
Then the sun came back and lit the sky before we knew
Far away in another world
There’s a different boy and another girl
But it’s all the same when it comes to this
There’s nothing better than a moonlit summer kiss
Chorus:
Sun going down melting out of the sky
As dusk gives way to the fireflies
There’s a yearning and burning
For the fourth of July
‘Neath late summer skies
When school let out we bust through those doors
Our brains were full we couldn’t take it anymore
We’d make a little bread and sneak some cigarettes
On a bank beneath the bridge is where we met
Now the old dirt road and those wildflowers
Are dying slowly by the hour
The summer folks are leaving town
Old shutters shut and some leaves are down (chorus)
Let the rain fall let the thunder boom
Before we know we’ll be beneath the harvest moon
Summer fades in Autumn’s cool breeze
The last crickets chirping through the swaying trees (chorus)
Got no words to say right now
Words can only make things worse
Guess we’ve come to see the light of day
Nothing’s ever gonna quench the thirst
You believed so deeply
That’s what made me believe
Who knew those days of innocence
Could ever up and leave
Chorus:
I’ll say it once more if it’s any conciliation
Still got the fire burning
But I’m walking out on thin ice
When day breaks we’ll give it all it takes
When you’re running low on love you know
It’s hard to pay the price
Bubbles bursting all around the wet and pretty ones
Some break before they touch the ground
One last glisten in the sun
For every burst or shattered dream there was a perfect plan
But nothing stands the test of time
If you build it out on the sand (chorus)
Wonder if there’s any way we can get this right
Feels we’ve fought the final round
And now somebody’s gonna try and stop the fight
At least I always knew I had you, you were the one
But everything keeps changing
In my world beneath the sun (chorus)
Running from the rumbling
Running down the road
Toward the open water where the rest of it unfolds
Black cloud by the harbor
Black cloud in the sky
Black and soot just falling fast
And caking up my eyes
Then they crumbled
They tumbled down
And the city was a broken town
And the people were upside down
Order wasn’t anywhere to be found
Chorus:
Blue morn
Blue morn
Wake up honey it’s time to greet the dawn
Down around the seaside
Sirens screaming by the shore
A million feet walked on the bridge changed for ever more
I stayed by the harbor
Then caught a boat away
Knowing everything was different
The whole world changed that day
And the skyline
Was dressed in black
Like the color from an old smoke stack
And the people could not look back
‘Cause reason lost control that day out on a slippery track (chorus)
Rolling on the river now
Rolling with the tide
That day will seem like yesterday as long as I’m alive
Innocence is gone for good
Innocence is lost
Too many bridges being burned
Before they’re even crossed
And the people
Who are left behind
Search for answers we will never find
While the eagle is flying blind
The wounded dove is doing everything he can to climb (chorus)
Wake up honey it’s time to be moving on...
Colors of the last warm day
Wind it comes blows them away
Pending fall, dreading cold
Feeling young but growing old
These dreams I’m having in my head
They wake than knock me from my bed
Lost like a ship out at sea
And in the throes of mutiny
Chorus:
Deep, deep our heart
We’re never apart
But I still need you near
Warm brown eyes of almond shape
Into those eyes I must escape
It’s cold out here I need the sun
Spent too much time out on run
Keep me warm wrapped in your arms
Keep my heart from further harm
Whisper something to my ear
Make my blues just disappear (chorus)
I still need you near
I still need you near
I still need you near
I still need you near
Morning wakes the breeze blows in
And touches soft upon your skin
The early bird still sings his tune
He knows that winter’s coming soon
Keep me warm wrapped in your arms
Keep my heart from further harm
It’s cold out here I need the sun
Spent too much time out on run (chorus)
Honey look, what a perfect night
And the stars are out and the moon is bright
A distant night bird calls and the breeze is light
Just you and me all wrapped in our dreams
On a blanket beneath the tall evergreens
At a time when time don’t mean a thing
Chorus:
Now that night has fallen
And the stars are all aligned
Let’s take tonight
And leave the rest behind
Let’s take tonight
Who needs the world with it’s downs and it’s woes
Had it from here down to my toes
If I had big wings we would take flight
High up above those bright evergreens
To Venus or Mars through any moon beam
Where the world just down below don’t mean a thing (chorus)
Give me a seaside room with a view
But it don’t mean a thing if I didn’t have you
Sunshine through gold curtains casts a spell
Spark in the dark our silhouette on the wall
Morning sunrise giving way to the fall
Shining on the blankets where we fell (chorus)
Travel alone by autumn moon
Travel alone by night
Along the highest precipice
Under the guiding light
A musical band of gypsies
Playing a tune on time
Riding the box on rickety track
They disappear down the line
Travel alone by winter’s sun
Shining down on the snow
Keeping an eye for the one that I need
Searching wherever I go
Has someone been here to see me?
A lady with beautiful eyes
With hair reddish-brown, wearing a gown
Prettier than a sunrise
Chorus
Travel ‘til I’m weary
Travel ‘til I’m there
Travel on ‘til I can find
The girl with the auburn hair
Travel ‘til I’m older
Travel ‘til I’m sure
Travelin’ blind until I find
A love that will endure
Travel alone in springtime
Feeling the sun grow warm
Melting the snow, clearing the way
Everything’s being reborn
Each day getting longer
Buds bloom on the trees
I can’t help but think to myself
Is she thinking of me (chorus)
Moving alone by summer stars
Hoping to find true north
Movin’ by land movin’ by sea
Movin’ back and forth
Sweet scent of Honeysuckle
Floating in the air
Could she be high on the overlook
I’ll climb to see if she’s there (chorus)
Hanging ‘round in the kitchen
Empty rooms all around
Gray rain tapping on the window pane
I can hear every sound
One more day in this body
Another one in this skin
Sometimes I don’t even know
Exactly the shape that I’m in
Soon will come a beginning
If I can just get to the end
Been writing a letter telling just how I feel
I know I never will send
Everyone’s got their own story
Nobody’s free from their tale
Some ships who ruled on the great open blue
Some who just cannot set sail
For everything there’s a reason
It all adds up in the end
It’s hard to see it unfolding
So we doubt it all over again
I haven’t been to the ocean
In too long a time, so it feels
I need to be shoeless and stand in the tide
And feel the sand swallow my heels
Somewhere beyond the horizon
Is at times where I wanna be
Sailing in silence, drifting alone
With the sun and the sounds of the sea
Tonight I’ll light a few candles
Have a smoke and a glass of red wine
And get lost in the music like leaves in the wind
And know everything will be fine
Everything will be fine (repeat and fade)
