We had the pleasure of playing this series in its first year, summer of 2022, and had a wonderful experience! Really happy to return!! A beautiful concert setting in the heart of Norfolk, CT...
Locomotive running hard and shaking up the street
I wish I had a pillow now and one more for my feet
I can’t see the sky it’s black and someone stole the stars
Tried walking on the beaches and left my prints in tar
Chorus:
It’s raining down upon us now like never before
You put one back behind you turn around and there’s one more
I’m too wise to say “why me?”... Been to that rodeo
And it wouldn’t hurt a single bit to see these bad days go
Don’t feed the beast in fact don’t look back it’s not there
But late-night mice run in my mind it’s now beyond repair
Count the good it far out-weighs At times that’s not enough
I aim for the fairways girl and end up in the rough (Chorus)
My bud’s a bust they caught him on the run inside his home
My girl’s a visionary... but then visionaries roam
My car’s got fuel and new rims but someone took the wheel
I may beg and borrow but my sister likes to steal (Chorus)
I tried to cut the phone lines babe but still there was e-mail
My hatchet kissed the cable and my boot heel met the snail
The waters rising steady we no longer see our turf
It’s sink or swim or breathe or die or drown here in the surf (Chorus)
It's hard to recall love's lost tales My heart turns the pages but always fails
Prince lost his princess one fateful day Was she lost in the forest? Or did she run away...
Chorus:
Fairy tales, empty nights used to be reality and Broadway lights
Smiles used to glisten, hands used to hold
It doesn't always last so the story's told
Prince looks for princess in the witch's castle But the gators in the moat ain't worth the hassle
All his valiant efforts seem to drift away when he sees another damsel in the light of day (Chorus)
Love's lost tales run through my mind The endings are sad almost every time
The storybook is tainted by the author's style Still we always seem to read it then put it down for awhile...(Chorus)
He grew up blew this old town
Put his thumb on the road he was west coast bound
For the land of milk and honey where fallen stars
cruise the boulevard in those fancy cars
Chorus:
Oh, the deeper you go
You need another hit just to soothe your soul
Oh, it takes it’s toll
You do it in the name of rock and roll
Down today gotta get it up tonight
Got to keep ‘em dancing ‘til the morning light
Shots of gold and funny cigarette
take you even higher than it gets (chorus)
Why’d you leave ? I knew you well
At least I did last night in that cheap motel
Mystery woman dressed in black
You’re gonna need a hundred horses to hold me back (chorus)
Goodnight moon the sunrise is now
I didn’t really need the sleep anyhow
Strong black coffee and those funny cigarettes
and a road guitar is as good as it gets (chorus)
Went down to the river’s edge and built myself a dream
Right there where things grow wild and the waters gleam
Then the rain fell, the river swelled and washed the whole damn thing away
Guess I gotta build again, better start today
There really ain’t a reason and it’s so hard to explain
For every piece of pleasure there’s a dosing of some pain
I can see the beauty of that river in my mind
Though sometimes it’s dark and deep when the sun don’t shine
Chorus:
Roll, roll, roll
Let the river roll
As long as it don’t flow on over me
Somewhere on an island on some far off distant shore
Is the very sea shell I’ve been searching for
I held it for a moment once, it slipped into the tide
I’ve been searching ever since at every waterside (chorus)
Woman of my vision you’re the keeper of my soul
If I ever lost you girl I’d lose some control
Like that river keeps on running ‘til it dies out in the sound
Gotta keep moving baby can’t let nothing slow you down .... (chorus)
I just finished up your letter
You wanna know when things get better ?
When will you be up, not so down
Stranded far from town
All you see these days are gray skies
All you’re hearing are the blue lies
Askin’ what you lack
Gotta get yourself back
Chorus:
On and on the beat goes on
Soon this second will be gone
Another day here and gone
... move on
Life is all about the yearning
And another page a - turning
True love and happiness, why so hard ?
Is it just in the cards ?
Somebody once said something
It all comes down to one thing
Move on, move on
Don’t waste sweet precious time (chorus)
Nobody’s getting any younger
Don’t have to be to have the hunger
It’s in your hands, no one else
can put you on the shelf
The weather’s getting warmer
Maybe you are getting stronger
Move on, move on
Don’t waste your precious time
Chorus:
On and on the beat goes on
Soon this second will be gone
Another day here and gone
...move on
Moments come, moments go
Nothing makes the time move slow
Another day here and gone
...move on
Over a cool northwestern sea
Flying high and free away from me
To where the cold winds never blow
Words would no more heal the pain and
If we did this all again, I’d ask for you to stay
Just one more night
Baby no matter how hard we tried
When the fire burns out and the rest of it dies
Up in smoke is where it all goes
And now all those hazy and drunken nights
and all the useless & senseless fights have up and gone
I am alone feeling a little stoned
Chorus:
These feelings come’n go
Just like in a circus show
When your heart is on the High Wire
Up in the morning and out on the breeze
Left you crying down on your knees that day
What a day
You would write your poetry
To get you through the worst of me
While I hid inside my head so much unsaid
Chorus:
These feelings come and go
Just like in a circus show
When your heart is on the high wire
Bridge:
This show won’t go on
Until all those clowns are gone
And then you watch me stumble out upon
The high wire
Now you’re over a cool northwestern sea
Flying high and free away from me
To where the cold winds will never blow
There’s a red sun rising on a summer field
Wildflowers line the hill
The river’s running lazy
to the tune of the whippoorwill
The old dirt road goes winding through the forest out to the highway
Traveling alone, traveling alone but I’m on my way
Chorus:
Babe your smile brings me home
Makes everything alright
When we say goodbye I die inside as I step into the night
Cold and alone is how the highway feels, headlights burning bright
I’m coming home
Sometimes it’s hard to say some things
I get shy, I don’t know why
I feel it most out on the road
when I’m alone in overdrive
If I’m workin’ down in the city or cruisin’ ‘long the countryside
for every time I thank God for home there’s a star up in the sky
(chorus)
How am I gonna get back to that cabin
How am I gonna get back to the land
Mighty river rollin’ through the valley
Gonna wash you where you stand
Morning winds whispering soft and quiet
Tryin’ say something to my ear
Can’t be heard above the roar of the river
Rambling like an auctioneer
How am I gonna get back to the city
How am I gonna get back to the streets
There’s a million miles of open highway
Between here and Easy Street
There’s a pale moon up on the rooftop
Sky scraper scrapes the sky
There’s a crazy man up on the antenna
Telling everyone that he’s gonna fly
Chorus:
Runaway Boy
Run away now
Gotta get back to myself
And I’m trying to learn how
Fly away bird
Take to the sky
There’s mountains of stone and steel
I gotta get by
How am I gonna get back to the laughter
How am I gonna get back to that space
I got lost on an endless highway
Just trying to keep the pace
How am I gonna get back to the ocean
How am I gonna get back to the shore
There’s miles and miles of coastline
And that’s what I’m gettin’ for (chorus)
How am I gonna get back to that cabin
How am I gonna get back to the land
Mighty river rollin’ through the valley
Gonna drop you where you stand
Morning winds whispering soft and quiet
Tryin’ say something to my ear
Can’t be heard above the roaring of the river
Rambling like an auctioneer (chorus)
Running fast now With your hands out
With a broken wing Still not ready to fly
Take a chance now Join the dance now
The well is deep Might as well give it a try A try, give it a try
Disconnected Resurrected Sliding back slow Running to keep the pace
Every season Brings a reason And there’s always Another waiting to Take its place
Take its place Take its place
Running empty Lost the lone key Wandering around Seems we’re at it again
Was it last glance? Maybe last chance You thought it before You thought it time and again
And again and again...
Honey look, what a perfect night
And the stars are out and the moon is bright
A distant night bird calls and the breeze is light
Just you and me all wrapped in our dreams
On a blanket beneath the tall evergreens
At a time when time don’t mean a thing
Chorus:
Now that night has fallen
And the stars are all aligned
Let’s take tonight
And leave the rest behind
Let’s take tonight
Who needs the world with it’s downs and it’s woes
Had it from here down to my toes
If I had big wings we would take flight
High up above those bright evergreens
To Venus or Mars through any moon beam
Where the world just down below don’t mean a thing (chorus)
Beautiful seaside room with a view
But it don’t mean a thing if I didn’t have you
Sunshine through gold curtains casts a spell
Spark in the dark our silhouette on the wall
Morning sunrise giving way to the fall
Shining on the blankets where we fell (chorus)
There’s a new moon rising before your eyes
Gone with the fears and the alibis
Yesterday’s drying on the canvas, yes
Where tomorrow’s going is anyone’s guess
The snow’s falling and the heat don’t work
I thought I was passed acting like some kind of jerk
But I’m sitting here freezing drinking this wine
Wishing on music and lyrical rhymes
Outside there’s people crawling the streets
Each with a plan, each with a vision, each with a dream
Clinging to survival just to survive
It’s so easy sometimes to forget you’re alive
Now the puppets they dance in the crib of a child
While the world’s in a cage and promise runs wild
Where hope swallows fear and light smothers black
And everyone’s sailing with the wind at their back
I’ve been trying to reach it but I ain’t got there yet
And all the things that I know I sometimes forget
So it’s back at the start, more lines in my skin
I keep asking myself where to begin
So Heaven help me if I ever get it right
The trumpets will blow and I’ll reclaim my sight
You’ll be sure to know me with the smile on my face
Out of my head like the whole human race
There’s a new moon rising before your eyes
Gone with the fears and the alibis
Yesterday’s drying on the canvas, yes
Where tomorrow’s going is anyone’s guess
Somebody drop these chains I'm tired of playing all of these games
They're driving me half-insane Somebody drop these chains
Somebody wipe my brow I'm tired of figuring when or how
I can no longer work this plow Somebody wipe my brow
Above the horizon all answers lie That's the place to find when or why
How do I get to that part of the sky? Above the horizon all answers lie...
Where do I go when I wanna run? I get burned when I'm close to the sun
Who said love was fun? I sometimes think I'm done with it all
Somebody take my hand and lead me to another land
My feet are just so deep in sand Somebody take my hand
Why do the nights seem to last so long? Why do I have to speak through a song?
Where exactly did I go wrong? Why do the nights seem to last so long?
Somebody drop these chains I'm tired of playing all of these games
They're driving me half-insane Somebody drop these chains
Here I am again, feeling so confused
There you go again, pulling off my shoes
What is it like to be alone? What is it like to be afraid?
What is it like to cast a stone while you carry on a masquerade?
Here I am again, it’s the day after the storm
There you go again, you always kept me safe and warm
What is it like to lose the trust? What is it like down on your knees?
What is it like to feel your own rust? It’s like a silent soliloquy
There you go again, making rings around the sun
When the sun goes down those circles come undone
What is it like to fade away? What is it like to lose desire?
What is it like to feel okay? Laying low, not always aiming higher
and higher and higher...
